Stovall, Winn Native, Dies August 20 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel, Carthage, Texas, for Karl E. Stovall, 55, who died at 8 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 1970, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport after an extended illness. Officiating was the Rev. glen E. Eckols. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport with nephews David McCarty, John C. Prince, Stephen D. Stovall, Dr. John M. Stovall, Jr., James Ray Fouts, Jr., Melvin A. Finus Jr., David A. Ferguson, and James I. Stovall, Jr., acting as pallbearers. A native of Winn parish, Mr. Stovall was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Stovall, former residents of Sikes. He graduated from Byrd High School and attended Centenary College. He was a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division in World War II and operated Stovall's, Inc., at Lake Murvaud, near Carthage. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Methodist Church of Carthage. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ha. Whitaker of Carthage and Mrs. Frank Newman of Bossier City; three brothers, John M. Stovall of Idabel, Okla., D. M. Stovall of Carthage, and the Rev. James L. Stovall of Lake Charles; five sisters, Mrs. Curtis Prince of Carthage, Mrs. Alvin McCarty, Mrs. James Fouts, Mrs. Melvin Finuf, and Mrs. R. A. Ferguson, all of Shreveport; and two grandchildren, Sheri Whitaker and Leigh Newman.
