All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary of William Stone (Dodson Times, Friday, December 28, 1906) William Stone Dead: William Stone, of whom mention was made in our last issue as being sick at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. W. Moffett of Winnfield, died Thursday of last week, his remains having been interred with Masonic ceremonies at Gansville, Friday. He was a member of that ancient order and also held membership in the David Pierson Camp No. 1603, of the United Confederate Veterans., this camp having been organized at Winnfield last spring. Mr. Stone was born at Pollock, La., February 11, 1827 (at the time of his birth, the area that is known as Pollock, today, was then a part of either Catahoula or Rapides Parish), and was, therefore 79 years, 10 months, and 9 days old at the time of his death. He removed to the Gansville country in early life and was married to Miss Polly Ann Rodgers, from which union two children were born, Mr. A. Stone of Jackson Parish, and Mrs. T. W. Moffett of Winnfield. He leaves two brothers, B. W. Stone of this place, and D. M. Stone of Wyatt.
