Zion For James Strickland Funeral services for James E. Strickland, 59, native of Winn Parish were held at the Mt. Zion Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, August 24, with the Rev. Tidwell Brown, Rev. C. M. Robinson, and Rev. Hall officiating. Masonic rites were held at the grave and burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Strickland died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, August 22, at the home of his son, J. H. Strickland, route four, Winnfield. He had been ill for several months. He was born and reared in the Wheeling Community in Winn Parish. He recently moved to El Paso, Texas, to make his home with his son. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hattie Strickland of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Sam Craig of Monroe; two sons, J. H. Strickland and Cecil Ray Strickland of Winnfield, Rt. 4; two brothers, E. C. Strickland of Montgomery, and J. R. Strickland of Terral, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Dow of Epps, La., and Mrs. Rosa Parish of Natchitoches. He is also survived by three grandchildren. Members of the Masonic Lodge served as pallbearers.
