All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 23, 1951 Winn Parish Enterprise or Winnfield News-American Aunt Betty Stroud, Lifelong Citizen of Winn, Succumbs Miss Nancy Elizabeth Stroud, 69, better known as "Aunt Betty" to her many friends and relatives throughout Winn Parish and elsewhere, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jim Cockerham, on Winnfield Route 4, about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday following an illness of approximately two years. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Friendship Baptist Church. Interment was in the Friendship Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Rev. Rhymes and Rev. Neal officiated. "Aunt Betty" Stroud was born in Winn Parish on September 27, 1881 and had lived all her life in and near the Hudson Community of Ward seven. She was an active member and worker in the Friendship Baptist church and was well known and loved by her many friends. Surviving are three brothers, Arthur Stroud of Rt. 1, Dodson, Henry Stroud of Sikes, and Willie Stroud of Quitman; and three sisters, Mrs. Lula Cockerham of Rt. 4, Winnfield, Mrs. Sidney Stone of Rt. 1, Dodson, and Mrs. Laura K. Grissom of Humble, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were M. A. Jordan, Jr., L. C. Carpenter, Lester Carpenter, R. C. Carpenter, Pat Garrett, and M. E. Ferguson.
