Zion Church Funeral services were incomplete today for Floyd Odell Stroud, 48 year old Grant Parish farmer, who was the victim of a suicide Sunday afternoon. Rites are to be held at the Mount Zion Methodist Church with Rev. A. N. Baum officiating. Burial is to be in Mount Zion Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. He died of a gunshot wound from a .22 caliber rifle. Parish coroner John T. Mosley ruled suicide in the death. Reports stated that he had been despondent over the recent death of a child. It was reported that Mr. Stroud took the gun saying he was going to shoot a squirrel. He walked about 400 yards from the house and the family heard a shot. On investigating, they found him dead. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maudie Stroud; seven sons, Bobby Wayne of Natchitoches, Harold of the U. S. Marine Corp, Riley of Chicago, Vernon Lee, Grover, Douglas, and Ray, all of Montgomery, Route 2; one half brother, Ovey Haddox of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Doyle of Winnfield and Mrs. Minnie Lee Bonnette of Winnfield.
