Stroud, well known resident of Natchitoches, died on Saturday, April 4th at 7:15 o'clock p.m. after a lingering illness in his 81st year. Funeral services were held at the family residence in Natchitoches Sunday afternoon with Rev. Robert Fling, pastor of the Natchitoches Baptist Church, officiating. The remains were then sent to the Pine Grove Cemetery (Couley Double Church), Winn Parish, for interment. Mr. Stroud has been confined to his home for the past several years suffering from an eye trouble which operations failed to remedy. The deceased was born in Caldwell Parish near Columbia, on October 14, 1855. He married Miss Mattie Ann Kelly of Lincoln Parish January 3, 1878 and they moved to Winn Parish to make their home. In 1911, after the death of Mrs. Stroud he moved to Natchitoches and has resided there ever since. Surviving relatives are five sons and four daughters. They are E. M., A. E., T. M., and W. G. Stroud, Misses Della, Ninna, and Neva, Stroud, all of Natchitoches, S. O. Stroud of Bermuda and Mrs. Ella Longino of Montgomery.
