W. Stringer April 6 Succumbs At Gaars Mill Home After Illness of More Than A Year Last rites for Mrs. D. W. Stringer, 52 years, who died at her home in Gaars Mill Friday, April 5, 1940, after an illness of more than a year, were held at the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. O. L. Hughes and the Rev. R. L. Bridges officiated. Interment was in the Harmony Grove Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Troy Lee Kelly, Lloyd Newsom, Sharon Parker, Dean Hammons, Charlie McCartney, and Garvin Hammons. Mrs. Stringer, a native of the Gaars Mill community, was before her marriage, Miss Ollie Hammons, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Hammons. She was a consecrated member of the church, a member of the W. M. U. and of the Gaars Mill home demonstration club and for several years had been correspondent for the Winn Parish Enterprise. Besides her husband, Mrs. Stringer leaves three daughters, Mrs. T. L. Kelly, Gaars Mill, Mrs. Sharon Parker and Mrs. Lloyd Newsom, Sikes; one son, Gwin Stringer, Monroe; and two brothers, Dayton Hammons and Hilton Hammons, of Gaars Mill.
