Stringer Dies Sunday At Her Home In Quitman, La. It is indeed with sorrow that the many friends of Mrs. Ed Powell of this city, learn of the death of her mother, Mrs. Mary V. Stringer, at the family home in Quitman, which occurred Sunday, January 10, following a general decline in health for two years. The deceased was 75 years of age and was beloved by all who knew her, and her friends were many in her home community, where she had lived for forty-nine years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a most consecrated Christian, and devout worker in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Stringer Cemetery by Rev. Coody, the pastor of the Quitman church assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes of this city. Surviving her in addition to Mrs. Powell are: Mrs. R. A. Norred of Oak Grove, Mesdames D. H. Garlington, A. B. Cooper, R. B. Brand, and two sons, C. F. and J. S. Stringer, all of Quitman, and 27 grandchildren. Attending the funeral from Winnfield were Mrs. J. C. Fitch, Mrs. Ben Powell, and Rev. Stokes.
