Gwin Stringer Dies In Iran, Persia A telegram from the War Department last Saturday notified the family of Staff Sgt. Gwin Stringer, former resident of the Gaars Mill Community, that he had died in Iran, Persia. No other information was given, but the wire stated that a letter would follow. In the Army 21 months and overseas 11 (14?) months, Staff Sgt. Stringer was with the Army engineers as shop foreman of a motor pool. He had 32 natives and eight soldiers working under his direction. Before entering service Sgt. Stringer was employed in defense work in Texas. He is a graduate of the Gaars Mill High School and a member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church. His death is the first of men in service from the Gaars Mill community. Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Pearce of Winnsboro, La.; two sons, Walter, 5, and Billy Ray, 3; his father, D. W. Stringer of Gaars Mill; and three sisters, Mrs. T. L. Kelly and Mrs. Sharon Parker of Gaars Mill, and Mrs. Lloyd Newsom of Bossier City.
