All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the August 31, 1961 Winn Parish Enterprise Elbert Stroud, Wheeling, Dies From Injuries Elbert Stroud, 45, of the Wheeling Community, died in a Selma, Alabama hospital Monday, August 28, from injuries he received earlier from a falling pipe which crushed his chest and lungs and injured his heart. He was an employee of a pipeline company, and had only been on the job three weeks. Last rites were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lum Ellis, pastor of First Baptist Church of New Iberia, the Rev. D. S. Durand, pastor of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. A native of Wheeling, Mr. Stroud is survived by his wife; three sons, John Elbert, Don, and Mike, all of Rt. 1, Montgomery; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Ann Fullerton of Alexandria, and Mrs. Julia Elaine Rowzee, Biloxi, Miss.; three grandchildren, Greg, Kenny, and Timmy Fullerton; two sisters, Mrs. Ervin Neal and Mrs. Bernard Hickman, both of Montgomery; two brothers, James henry Stroud and Aaron Stroud, Alexandria. Also surviving are five uncles, Paul Garner, Eugene Garner, Odis Garner, Arnold Gatrner, and J. E. Garner, and three aunts, Miss Lula Horne, Miss Mae Garner, and Mrs. Pearl Jennings, all of Rt. 1 Montgomery. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
