All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 19, 1970 Winn Parish Enterprise-News American Olinkraft Executive From Winn Robert Stroud Killed In Industrial Accident Robert Stroud, head forester at Olinkraft's plant in Huttig, Ark., and former executive with the company's Winnfield plant, was killed in an industrial accident at the Huttig facility at 8 p.m. Monday, according to company officials. James Jones, sawmill manager of the Huttig plant, was also killed. The two were inspecting new machinery at the time of the accident, officials stated. Stroud, 38, was a graduate of Louisiana Tech in Ruston. He had been with Olin since 1962 as block forester and logging superintendent over the Winnfield forest. He was promoted to head forester at Huttig in August, 1969. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Atlanta Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Teal, the Rev. A. Dale Floyd, and the Rev. Thomas W. Cox officiating. Interment was at Mt. Zion Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. He was a native of the Wheeling Community, a Korean veteran, and a member of the Huttig, Ark., Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Stroud of Huttig, three daughters, Muriel Elizabeth, Linda Kay, and Mary Francis Stroud of Huttig, his father, Houston Stroud of Wheeling; two brothers, Roy Burns Stroud of Lake Charles and Joe R. Stroud of New Orleans; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Todd of Bell City and Mrs. Linda Starnes of Shreveport. Pallbearers were Don Moon, Ted Bolton, John Connor, John Schutte, Harry Maroney, and W. B. Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were Professional Foresters.
