G. Stroud, 70, Winn Native, Dies In Natchitoches William Gilbert Stroud, 70, of Natchitoches, died Tuesday, September 1, 1970 at a Natchitoches hospital after a lengthy illness. He worked as a deputy clerk of court for years and was elected clerk of court in 1953 and served until his retirement in 1964. He was a native of Winn Parish. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Blanchard Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. James Carter officiated. Burial was in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Survivors include his wife; one son, W. G. Stroud, Jr. of Metairie; two daughters, Mrs. Sue Dearman of Natchitoches and Mrs. Raymond Arthur of Metairie; one brother, Terry Stroud, Sr., of Natchitoches; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Longino of Winnfield, and Miss Nina Stroud and Miss Neva Stroud, both of Natchitoches; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were A. J. Hargis, S. T. Sibley III, Sam James, Frank Crippen, Dennis Bryan, and Julian Bailes.
