Funeral Services Held For S-Sgt. R. F. Stovall, Jr.

Funeral services for Staff Sergeant R. F. Stovall, Jr., of Dodson, whose death
resulted from a heart attack suffered at the indoctrination center in San
Antonio, Texas, on December 14, were held at the Methodist Church in Dodson,
on Sunday morning, December 15.  The Rev. S. L. Lantrip, local pastor, and the
Rev. Roy Grant of Choudrant, officiated.

Interment was in the Transport Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral
Home of Jonesboro.  Full military rites were conducted at the grave by an
honor guard from Barksdale Field in Shreveport.

Sergeant Stovall was well known in this section where he was born and reared. 
He was the son of Mrs. Della F. Stovall and the late Mr. Rawson F. Stovall,
Sr. of Dodson.  His paternal grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. J. J.
Stovall of Dodson and his maternal grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. M.
M. Fisher of Winnfield.  Both families were well known throughout North
Louisiana.

Sgt. Stovall was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Navy
for about two years.  Approximately two months ago he enlisted in the U. S.
Army at Langley Field, Va.  He completed his basic training in Baltimore, Md.,
and has been in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting assignment for two weeks when
his death occurred.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Della F. Stovall of
Dodson; four daughters, Mary Virginia and Barbara Sue of Ruston, and Linda
and Bonita of Pascagoula, Miss.; three brothers, Sgt. Richard C. Stovall and
Sgt. C. Wilson Stovall, both of Langley Field, Va., and Beverley Lynn Stovall
of Dodson; and two sisters, Mrs. Richard Burrows of Shreveport and Miss
Dellalee Stovall of Hampton, Va.

Pallbearers were Harold Temple, Jim Daily, Hugh W. Stovall, L. Mathews, Hooper
Mooney, Judson Campbell, J. C. Bennett, and Pfc. Keith Kessinger, who
accompanied the remains from San Antonio.

Out of town relatives attending the services included Mrs. Ethel Fisher Davis,
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Davis, and Mr. C. C. Davis, of Clarence; Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Burrows and daughter, Gayle, of Shreveport; Mrs. Virginia Galloway
Stovall and daughter, Barbara Sue, of Ruston; Mrs. J. A. Gaar, Mrs. Henry F.
Stovall, and daughters, Jerry and Jaime, of Jonesboro; Mrs. M. D. Nicholson of
New Orleans; Mrs. Dorothy Shetley Stovall of Pascagoula, Miss.; Miss Dellalee
Stovall of Hampton, Va.; and Sgt. Richard C. Stovall and Sgt. C. Stovall of
Langley Field, Va.
