Funeral services for Mrs. A. W. Stewart, 78, mother of Gordon Stewart of Winnfield, were held in New Orleans Sunday at 2:30 p.m. She died in Leesville Friday night after a long illness. Rites were held in the chapel of the Tharpe-Sontheimer-Tharpe Funeral Home in New Orleans. Rev. E. W. Dickenson, pastor of Westminister Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans. Mrs. Stewart was born in New Orleans in 1875 and was reared there. She resided with her son, Gordon Stewart, in Winnfield for several years. Survivors include one son, Gordon of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. B. A. Ingles of Leesville; one sister, Mrs. George E. Taylor of New Orleans; three grandchildren, Sharon and Johnny Stewart of Winnfield, and Kay Ingles of Leesville; and two nieces, Mrs. Frank Plesch and Mrs. R. E. Dalrymple of New Orleans. Her husband preceded her in death in 1944. Pallbearers were John, William, and Norbett McLeod, Frank and R. E. Dalrymple, all nephews of the deceased, and Arnold Lehman.
