All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 17, 1966 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Gunshot Wound Claims Life of Joyce Native Funeral services for Mrs. Gloria Sumner, 37, of Bastrop, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Blackwell and Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop with the Dr. Ray Bust officiating. Burial was in Morehouse Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Sumner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Bastrop Thursday, according to a ruling made by Dr. Carter Cox, Morehouse Parish coroner. A native of Joyce, she had lived in Morehouse Parish for the past 16 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bastrop. Survivors include her husband, Jack Sumner of Bastrop; two sons, Jack Sumner, Jr., and Thomas Michael, both of Bastrop; two brothers, Henry J. Lovell of Dallas, Texas and J. T. Lovell of North Carolina; one sister, Mrs. Gayle Blankenbaker of Bastrop; and her father, John H. Lovell of Bastrop.
