H. Sutton At Her Home Sunday Funeral Services Were Held Tuesday At St. Maurice Mrs. Virginia Strong Sutton, wife of C. H. Sutton, died at her home here Sunday morning at 5 o'clock, following three month's illness. Mrs. Sutton was born in Natchitoches Parish near St. Maurice, July 30, 1849, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Walker Strong. She was a sister to the late W. A. Strong, who at one time was secretary of state in Louisiana, under the Nichols administration, and was editor of the Southern Sentinel, local newspaper att the time of his death. Mrs. Sutton was educated at the Sacred Heart School in Natchitoches. She was married to C. H. Sutton in 1874. They moved to Winnfield in 1901 and resided here continuously since that time. Mrs. Sutton at an early age united with the Methodist Church and was a member of the local church at the time of her demise. She was a consecrated Christian. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the home of here and at the Independence Methodist Church at St. Maurice. Rev. Ellis Smith was in charge, assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes. Surviving the deceased are her husband, C. H. Sutton, 83 years of age; two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Crawford, Winnfield, and Mrs. T. H. Stell of Shreveport; and two sons, Clarence of Winnfield and W. E. Sutton of Montgomery; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Out of town relatives and friends attending the last rights were Mrs. Ralph White and Mrs. Guy Smith, Monroe; N. B. Crawford of El Dorado; Mrs. S. P. Carney, Harry Crawford, and O'Neil Sutton of Longview, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Jackson of Jonesboro; Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Jones, Pollock; Miss Jerusha Carter, Nacogdoches, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Cothran of Hodge.
