S. Sutton Held Monday P. M. Dies Sunday Morning Following Illness of More Than Three Months Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Strong Sutton, who died at her home here Sunday morning at five o'clock, were conducted Monday afternoon at one thirty o'clock from the Independence Church, St. Maurice, by the Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor of the First Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. A brief ceremony was held at the family residence here before conveying the remains to St. Maurice. Mrs. Sutton was born in Natchitoches Parish near St. Maurice July 20, 1849. She was married to C. H. Sutton June 4, 1874. At an early age she united with the M. E. Church and has been a member of the local church since 1901, where she and her husband moved from St. Maurice to Winnfield. Mrs. Sutton is a sister of the late W. A. Strong, who was at one time Secretary of State in Louisiana, under the Nichols administration and was editor of the Southern Sentinel local newspaper at the time of his death. Surviving the deceased are her husband, C. H. Sutton, 83, two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Crawford of Winnfield, Mrs. T. H. Stell of Shreveport, and one son, W. E. Sutton of Montgomery.
