A. Swilley, 69, Retired Railway Agent Succumbs Funeral services for Wiley Austin Swilley, 67, were held Monday, April 15, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home, with the Rev. R. H. Staples and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Don Dunkleberger, E. J. Buchanan, C. C. Taylor, Lloyd Trawick, Harper Terrell, J. R. Harrison, Louie James, and James Watts. Swilley, a retired agent for the Rock Island Railway, died Saturday at 7 a.m. in a Winnfield hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Union County, Arkansas. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and was quite active in teaching in his early years. Survivors are his widow; seven sons, Wiley A. Swilley, Jr., Warren Robinns Air Base, Georgia; Harold Swilley, Orland Swilley, Conrad Swilley, and Wilson Swilley, all of Winnfield; Durwood Swilley of Garden City, Kansas; Waymon Swilley of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Willard Fuller of Waco, Texas, and Mrs. Malvin Peters of Houston, Texas; five brothers, John W. Swilley, Earnest Swilley, James Swilley, all of El Dorado, Ark.; W. R. Swilley of Smackover, Arkansas; Jack Swilley of Detroit, Michigan; five sisters, Mrs. Vivian Hammonds, Licksburg, Missouri; Mrs. Ruby Gulley of Kilgore, Texas; Mrs. Elva Slaughter, Mrs. Alene Ruter and Mrs. Loyce Jones of El Dorado, Arkansas; 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
