Curt Sowers Dies Suddenly In Texas Mon. Was Former Resident of Winnfield and Well Known in La. After a short illness, George Curt Sowers, former resident of Winnfield, died in a Corsicana, Texas sanitarium, Monday night, December 30, 1935. Winnfield relatives were notified of his illness and his two sisters, Miss Cora Sowers and Mrs. J. V. Scott, and Jim Scott, Jr., went to his bedside Saturday night. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at his home in Waxahachie, Texas, with interment in the Waxahachie Cemetery. Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Heldn Jeane and Ruth, of Waxahachie; two brothers, Columbus Sowers of Corrigan, Texas and Will Sowers of Beaumont, Texas; and three sisters, Miss Cora Sowers, Mrs. J. V. Scott, and Mrs. Gene Dark, Winnfield. Mr. Sowers was a member of one of Winnfield's oldest and well known families. He spent his early youth here and when a young man became a traveling salesman for nationally known packing houses, making a host of friends in Louisiana and other southern states. He married in Texas and established a very successful hardware business in Waxahachie, Texas, about fifteen years ago. He leaves a host of friends and relatives in this section who regret to learn of his death.
