Taylor Rites Were Held Saturday, May 10 John D. Taylor, 59, prominent Winnfield businessman, died Friday morning, May 9, at his home. He was in the laundry and cleaning business and was owner of Taylor's Laundry and Cleaners. Death was attributed to a gunshot wound of the head, apparently self- inflicted, according to the Winn Parish Sheriff's Department. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Thomas Cox officiating. Interment was in the Minden Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Winnie Taylor of Winnfield; a son, John D. Taylor, Jr., of Monroe; his mother, Mrs. Mary Ida Taylor of Minden; one brother, Travis Taylor of Minden; one foster brother, Cecil Lee Taylor of Houston, Texas. Pallbearers were Richard Roberts, Leon Wyatt, Zeno Coon, O. F. Curtis, Dewitt Franks, and George Foster.
