N. Thomas Succumbs, Buried Monday, May 21 Funeral services for Mrs. S. N. Thomas, 77, of Winnfield, who died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in a Winnfield hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Southern Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. R. H. Staples and the Rev. W. R. Gage officiated. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern. Acting as pallbearers were Brooks Broussard, Billy Brister, Rudy Brian, Jerry Willis, Tom DeBusk, and Billy Carter. A native of Lincoln Parish, Mrs. Thomas had been a resident of Winnfield for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was the widow of the late S. N. Thomas, well known timber man in the area. Survivors include a son, Aubrey Ryals of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Mrs. Ann Wilson of Lovington, N. M.; two brothers, John Anderson and Sam Anderson of Fairfield, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Alvin Norman of Oil City, Mrs. Sammie Mitchell of Monroe, Mrs. Bud Cooper of Quitman, Mrs. H. V. Elbon of Fort Worth, Tex., and Mrs. Will Lyles of Ruston; and five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
