Tanner Succumbs; Buried Nov. 17 Mrs. Nancy McCarty Tanner, 76, resident of Winnfield, died in a local hospital November 16. Final rites were conducted at 2 p.m. November 17 at the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church near Sikes, with the Rev. Hardy Beaubouef, the Rev. Ed Smith, and the Rev. Kenneth Wall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mrs. Tanner was a native of Sikes. Acting as pallbearers were the following grandsons: W. C. McCarty, Jr., Eddis Ray Sanders, Benny Sanders, Jerry McCarty, Wayne McCarty, Jr., Leonard McCarty, A. G. McCarty, Jr., and Alton McCarty. The deceased is survived by her husband, J. C. Tanner of Winnfield; four daughters, Mrs. Vina Sanders, Mrs. Viola Sanders, and Mrs. Maurine Sanders, all of Sikes; Mrs. Vocie Sanders of Pollock; six sons, W. C. and Clinton "Big Mac" McCarty of Sikes; Milo McCarty of Pollock, Floyd McCarty of Ringgold, Wayne McCarty of West Monroe; and one step son, Guy McCarty of Joyce; one brother, George Adams of Crowville; 28 grandchildren and 21 great gandchildren.
