E. Tannehill, 82, Winn Native, Dies In Urania Oct. 6 Clarence Eugene Tannehill, 82, retired manager of the supply department of the Urania Lumber Company, died Sunday, Oct. 6, in a Urania clinic. A native of Winnfield, Mr. Tannehill had in early life been employed in Urania and later returned to Winnfield where he was associated in business with his brother in law, the late Rufus Walsh, in the operation of the Winnfield Furniture Store during the 1920s and 1930s. He also served as a member of the Winnfield Board of Aldermen and in other civic and religious posts. He then returned to Urania where he was a member of Charles F. Buck Lodge No. 260, F. & A. M., Royal Arch Chapter No. 86, Urania, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He also served as a steward in the Methodist Church and a chairman of the board, and also as Sunday School superintendent during his lifetime. Mr. Tannehill was the son of the late Richard Lafayette Tannehill and Elizabeth Sellinger Tannehill, pioneer families who came to this area from Alabama before the Civil War. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. October 7 in the Urania Methodist Church with the Rev. E. W. Sandell, the Rev. Mr. Pickens, and the Rev. Mr. Massey officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were R. M. Tannehill, Joe Walsh, George S. Walsh, P. G. Tannehill, R. S. Walsh, Jr., Don Walsh, Glen F. Tannehill, and Richard T. Walsh. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bert Foshee Tannehill, Urania; three sons, James Tannehill of Shreveport, Prentice Tannehill of New Orleans, and W. M. Tannehill of Urania; a daughter, Mrs. Henry J. Powers of Minden. He also leaves eight sisters, Mrs. Q. T. Hardtner, Sr., of Urania, Mrs. R. S. Walsh and Miss Estelle Tannehill of Winnfield, Mrs. C. L. Pace of Alexandria, Mrs. Don Robbins of New Orleans, Mrs. Emmett Fort of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Nevin T. McKinney, of Houston, and Mrs. Poinsetta Johnson of Lake Charles; four brothers, M. A. Tannehill of Urania, Francis Tannehill of Kerrville, Texas, Antoine Tannehill of New Orleans, and Jack Tannehill of Philadelphia, Miss.
