Tannehill, 63, Killed By Auto In New Orleans Was Vice-Pres. Urania Lumber Company of Urania, La. George Milton Tannehill, 61 years old, vice president of the Urania Lumber Company, of Urania, La., and manager of the company's timber interests, died in New Orleans Monday night as a result of injuries which he sustained when he was struck by an automobile while attempting to cross Canal Street. He is said to have died instantly from a fractured skull. The accident occurred about 12 o'clock. The unfortunate man was accompanied by Quinton T. Hardtner, president of the Urania Lumber Company and a brother in law of the dead man. They were in New Orleans attending a lumber manufacturer's convention. They started to cross the street, Mr. Tannehill being ahead of Mr. Hardtner. The latter is quoted as saying that he saw the automobile coming and called to Mr. Tannehill to stop, but he apparently did not hear the warning and continued on his course, when he was struck by the machine. The car was driven by Jack Angers, 32, of New Orleans, who was charged with voluntary manslaughter. Mr. Tannehill was a native of Winnfield, where he was reared. He was a son of the late R. L. Tannehill and Mrs. Elizabeth Sellinger Tannehill. Early in life he became connected with the mercantile establishment of the late E. J. Hardtner, of Pineville, where he remained until the Urania Lumber Company was formed. He had been connected with it continually since. He married Miss Dora Schaedel of Pineville, who survives him. He leaves one daughter and three sons. They are: Mrs. McDade of Belcher, La.; George Tannehill of Winnfield; Glenn Tannehill of Urania; and Dr. Theodore Tannehill of Tullos. He also leaves two brothers, H. N. Tannehill of Tullos, and C. E. Tannehill of Urania; three sisters, Mrs. Q. T. Hardtner of Urania, Mrs. C. L. Pace of Alexandria, and Mrs. R. S. Walsh of Winnfield; five half brothers, W. A. Tannehill of Hattiesburg, Miss., Murphy Tannehill of Urania, J. R. Tannehill of Winnfield, Elisha Tannehill of Pineville, and F. M. "Jesse" Tannehill of Baton Rouge; five half sisters, Miss Estelle Tannehill of Winnfield, Mrs. Harold McKinney of Cross Roads, Mrs. Poinsette Johnson of Winnfield, Mrs. E. E. Fort of Beaumont, Texas, and Miss Nancy Tannehill of New Orleans, and his stepmother, Mrs. Lula Tannehill of Winnfield. Funeral services were held at the family residence at Urania, Wednesday afternoon, with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pineville.
