Marl Tarver, 75, Succumbs; Rites Feb. 17 J. Marl Tarver, 75, of Winnfield, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 1972 in Winnfield General Hospital after a long illness. A native of Grant Parish, he was retired from the timber industry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a Mason. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Volena Tarver of Winnfield; five sons, Julius Tarver of Natchitoches, Howard Tarver and James Tarver, both of Winnfield, R. B. Tarver of Bastrop, and Harold Tarver of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Cole of Lake Charles and Mrs. Gail Woodard of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Frazier Tarver of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Rufus Rogers of Winnfield and Mrs. Opal McQueen of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating, assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Lamar Tarver, Bobby Tarver, Douglas Tarver, Wayne Cole, Richard Cole, and Roland Rogers.
