Taylor Cecil Adrian Taylor was born in Mantua, Alabama, to Walter Eugene and Vicie Elizabeth Wilson Taylor, on January 17, 1916. He attended public in Greene County, Alabama, the joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in Alabama. Cecil transferred to the Louisiana Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938, serving first at Jonesboro and later at Gaar's Mill. He married Sadie Hughen of Gaars Mill on December 21, 1939. Cecil began working for the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, before his induction into the U.S. Navy in September, 1944. He served as recreation officer and drill chief until his honorable discharge in February, 1946. On his return to civilian life, Cecil resumed employment with the Soil Conservation Service, working as a conservation technician until retiring with forty years service in 1984. Immediately following his retirement, he accepted employment with the Dugdemona Soil and Water Conservation District, working in the same capacity with them for five years until his death. Cecil was a member of East Winnfield Baptist Church, Joyce, Louisiana, for over forty years. His service in the church included thirty-five years as a deacon, thirty years as Sunday School Director and teacher, church treasurer and numerous committees. Cecil died on September 15, 1989, in Schumpert Medical Center, Shreveport, Louisiana. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church, Winnfield, with the Revs. Kenneth Wall and Doyle Wesson officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield. Survivors include his wife, Sadie, of Winnfield; one daughter, Sandra Bamburg of Shreveport; two sons, Cecil R. Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jim Taylor, of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Belton Taylor and Robert Taylor, both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Rhodes Taylor of York, Alabama; three sisters, Irene Mayes and Ruth Walker, both of York, Alabama (the obituary does not name the third sister); and two grandchildren, Dana Taylor and Chris Taylor, both of Kansas City, Missouri.
