Taylor Dies At Gansville Home August 11 Funeral Services Held At Gansville Church Saturday Andrew J. Taylor, 78, of Gansville, died at his home on Friday, August 11, after a long illness. Born on a farm two miles west of Liberty Hill in Bienville Parish, April 18, 1861, Mr. Taylor had made his home on the farm, first with his mother, made a widow during the Civil War. Later he moved to Winn Parish, where he became deputy sheriff with G. M. Tannehill, field deputy, under Sheriff J. H. Crawford. Mr. Taylor began his service with the government in 1884, carrying mail from Liberty Hill to Saline. He served as mail carrier for 42 years. He was twice married, the first time to Miss Emily Mixon, daughter ob Obeedez Mixon of Friendship, who died in 1916, and two years later to Mrs. Bertie L. Simms of Hilly. Funeral services for Mr. Taylor were held at the Gansville church Saturday, August 12, at 4 p.m., with Rev. S. G. Rogers, assisted by Rev. Buckner and Rev. W. T. Strain, officiating. Interment was in the Gansville Cemetery. Survived by the deceased are seven sons: Fred, Jeff, and Floyd of Gansville; Clayton and Roy of Winnfield; Clyde of Dodson and Archie of Shreveport; six daughters: Mrs. Ben Hallen of Simsboro; Mrs. Turner Lann of Ruston; Mrs. Carl Baggett and Mrs. Claude Varble of Shreveport; Mrs. Bill Temple and Mrs. Herman Scott of Dodson, and a host of grandchildren. Grandchildren acting as pallbearers were Jeffie and Robert Taylor, and Wayne, Joe, Howard, and Jack Fallen.
