A Tribute To A Fine Southern Gentleman (submitted by Anne Lasyone Futch)

James Aaron Taylor

(March 9, 1896 - January 12, 1995)

James Aaron Taylor was born March 9, 1896 in Winn Parish to Mary Ann Lucas and
William R. Taylor.  The first born son in a family of nine children, he
attended local schools and the college located where the Hudson Tabernacle is
located today.  He married Betty Sayes and later moved to Shreveport in 1921
where he worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in
1956.

He and his wife Betty, who preceded him in death in 1969, had three sons,
Virgil, Edward, and Lloyd and one daughter, Mary Ann.  He is survived by his
sons and daughter, thirteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren,
and eight great-great grandchildren; one sister, Willie Mae Jordan, and many
nieces and nephews.  Local nieces include Ann Lasyone Futch, Faye Bemont,
Virginia Feger, Myrtle Collins, Myrt Gaar, and nephews Philip Wilkerson, James
A. Jordan, and Charles Jordan.  Several great nieces and nephews and great-
great nieces and nephews also survive.

He was a deacon of the Church of Nazarene and served as treasurer for forty-
four years.  His life was a testimony of his faith in Christ in all respects
and to know him was to love him for his kind gentle ways.  His words were
always ones of wisdom spoken like the true southern gentleman he portrayed
himself to be.

Uncle Aaron went home to be with the Lord January 12, 1995 in Olathe, Kansas
where he lived near his son, Dr. William Lloyd Taylor and family.
