C. Taylor Held At Gansville G. C. (Coleman) Taylor, 74 years and four months of age, died in a Winnfield hospital Thursday, September 13, 1962, following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Natchitoches but had lived most of his lifetime in Ward Four, Winn Parish, and the last 20 years in Winnfield. Mr. Taylor was a retired logging contractor, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Prior to moving to Winnfield he was a member and deacon of Cypress Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, September 14, at the Gansville (Siloam) Baptist Church with the Rev. R. B. Kitchingham officiating. He was assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. Louis Moffett. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral home. Pallbearers were Dr. Jack Evans, Sheriff R. S. Jordan, Hershell Lowe, Willie Burnum, Austin Jones, and Oree Allen. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. G. C. Taylor; four sons, C. C. Taylor and Travis Taylor, both of Winnfield, W. O. and Wayne Taylor, both of Dodson; two daughters, Mrs. Laurine Mayes and Mrs. Jacqueline Pixley, both of Baton Rouge; two brothers, W. N. Taylor of Dodson and Virgil Taylor of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Johnson of Smackover, Ark., and Mrs. Leona Sussa of Oakland, Calif.; 29 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
