I. Taylor of Sikes Succumbs; Buried April 15 Mrs. J. I. Taylor, 83, native of Sikes, died in a Winnfield hospital Monday after a short illness. She was a member of the Sikes Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sikes Baptist Church. Officiating were Rev. J. Killingsworth, pastor, and Mr. W. S. Emmons. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews: Arnold Kirkland, Harvey Boles, Jack Kelly, Elson Gates, Barney Tidwell, Earl Usrey, Jason Gates, Marshall Adams. She is survived by one son, Elmer Taylor, of Beaumont, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Oliver M. Gates, of Sikes; five brothers, Ervin Gates and Robert Gates of Winnfield, Jesse Gates of Clarks, and Sam and Oliver Gates of Sikes; one sister, Mrs. A. M. Kinny of Edgewood, Texas; two half sisters, Mrs. Gene Holloway and Mrs. Jimmy Busby of Crowville; one half brother, Dewey Gates of Crowville; two stepbrothers, L. W. Gulledge of Monroe; one stepsister, Mrs. Jimmy Kelly of Sikes; ten grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
