Taylor, 88, a resident of near Calvin, for more than 40 years, were held at the Calvin Baptist Church at three o'clock Wednesday afternoon, March 3, with the Rev. F. M. Shows and Rev. F. M. York officiating. Burial was in the Sanders Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Taylor died at his home on Tuesday, March 2, after an illness of more than two years. He was born in Paris, Texas, in 1860 and moved to Louisiana soon after the turn of the century. He had farmed at his place near Calvin for more than 40 years. A member of the Calvin Baptist Church for many years, Mr. Taylor had been active in church and civic work until he became ill two years ago. Since that time he had been confined to his home. Surviving are five sons, Otis and Fred Taylor of Winnfield, George Taylor of Winnfield, Route 4, John Taylor, Jr. of Leesville, and Henry Taylor of Texas City, Texas; and two daughters, Mrs. Brithel Garrett of Winnfield, Route 4, and Mrs. Mary Gillmore of Waskom, Texas.
