T. V. Taylor Killed In Car-Train Crash Rev. T. V. Taylor, 81, of Downsville, West Monroe, La., was killed instantly Tuesday when the car in which he was a passenger crashed into an eastbound Illinois Central passenger train at Downing Pines road crossing about a mile from his home. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Stamper, who owned the car, were also killed; Mrs. Stamper instantly, and Mr. Stamper died two hours later in a Monroe hospital. Another passenger of the car, James Hogg, 16, of LeMesa, Texas, the Stamper's nephew, was seriously injured. The victims of the accident were returning from church services at Grayson, where Rev. Taylor was pastor of the Grayson Baptist Church. Rev. Taylor was born and reared in Ward 2, Winn Parish. He was pastor of a number churches in Winn Parish and before moving to West Monroe was pastor of South Winnfield Baptist Church from 1930 until 1940. He was instrumental in obtaining the deed for the present church site of the South Winnfield Baptist Church and was responsible for many other improvements of the church. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Church of God, Montgomery Street, West Monroe, with Rev. J. P. Nolan officiating, assisted by Rev. T. M. McClendon. Interment was in the Cheniere Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Emma White of Winn Parish, now of Brownville; six sons, B. G. and W. W. of Ft. Necessity, A. E. of West Monroe, Robert of Rayville, Wayland of West Monroe, J. T. of Virginia; four daughters, Mrs. A. B. Downs and Mrs. C. C. Street of West Monroe, Mrs. L. Perdue of Chatham, and Mrs. R. Retzel of Brownwood, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Jena Coates of Coushatta, and one brother, G. W. Taylor of Rt. 2, Winnfield. Attending the funeral from Winn Parish were G. W. Taylor of Rt. 2, Winnfield, and Mrs. Austin Jordan, a niece, of Winnfield. Other nieces are Mrs. Alaphair Wilkerson of Joyce, Mrs. S. G. McDaniel of Winnfield, and Mrs. J. B. Wallace of Winnfield; two nephews, Rev. David White and Lee Townsend, both of Winnfield.
