All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 8, 1947 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Susan Taylor Died Friday In South Winnfield Mrs. Susan Taylor, 76, died at her home Friday, May 2, 1947, as a result of a heart attack. Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at the Calvin Baptist Church with the Rev. F. M. York of Calvin and Rev. F. M. Shows of Winnfield in charge of services. Interment was in the Sanders Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Illinois and was reared in Arkansas and Texas, later moving to Louisiana. She was a member of the Calvin Baptist Church and was well known as an energetic church worker and as a regular visitor of the sick and needy. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor lived at Calvin for many years after coming to Winn Parish and later moved to a home near Bethlehem. About a month prior to her death the couple moved to Winnfield to be near their son, Otis Taylor of South Winnfield, because of Mrs. Taylor's frequent attacks of illness. Surviving are her widower, J. T. Taylor of Winnfield; five sons, Otis, of Winnfield, George of Rt. 4, Winnfield, Henry of Texas City, Texas, Fred of Monroe, and John of Rt. 2, Leesville; and two daughters, Mrs. Brithol Garrett of Rt. 4, Winnfield and Mrs. Henry Gilmore of Waskom, Texas. Mrs. Taylor is survived by one half-sister, Minervia Hammons of California, eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Edmonds Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
