DEATH CLAIMS REV. W.R. TAYLOR OF JOYCE APRIL 11 Funeral Services Held Sunday At Union Church Rev. W. R. Taylor, 60 years of age died at a Shreveport hospital Saturday, April 11, 1936, at 2:40 p.m. following a long illness and the result of the amputation of his leg Wednesday. The remains were brought to Joyce, the deceased's home and last rites were conducted at the Union Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. John Kitchingham of Columbia had charge of the services. Edmond's funeral Home directed the funeral. Pallbearers were A. P. Carson, A. L. Iays(?), and W. T. White of Shreveport; Jim Bolton of Winnfield; G. H. Parrish and L. C. Carpenter of Tremont Camp. Rev. Taylor was born August 31, 1876 in Winn parish. In 1894 he was married to Mary Lucas and they had nine children, eight of whom survive him with his widow. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, five brothers and one sister. Rev. Taylor lived in Joyce 14 years. He was formerly an employee of the Tremont Lumber Company, and was also a Baptist minister. Sons and daughters surviving are: James A. Taylor, Shreveport; Armon Taylor, Mrs. J. W. Wilkerson, Mrs. H. L. Wilkerson, Joyce; Mrs. D. H. Kelly, Tremont Camp; Mrs. Judge L. Smith, Winnfield; Mrs. C. King, Clarks; Mrs. A. H. Jordan, Winnfield. His brothers are: Rev. T. V. Taylor, G. W. Taylor, Winnfield; T. H. Taylor, Chestnut: B. C. Taylor, Fort Necessity; O. S. Taylor, Gilbert. His sister is Mrs. B. B. Coates of Columbia.
