Taylor Held April 24 Mrs. Clara Maude Taylor passed away at her home in the Pleasant Hill Community Sunday, April 23, at 8:45 a.m. after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 24, at the Hudson Nazarene Church with Rev. Calvin M. Robinson, Rev. R. L. Daily, and Rev. Virgil Taylor officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Taylor was a member of a pioneer Winn Parish family, being the daughter of the late C. C. "Lum" Allen and Mrs. Clarissa Boyett Allen. She had resided in the same community most of 61 years. Although her illness was serious and of lengthy duration, the courage, patience, and humor which she displayed will long be remembered by those who cared for her. Examples of her pine needle handcraft in the possession of friends and relatives remain to show her love and skill in using the native pine needles. She was a very busy person until her illness became too critical to permit her any activity. Surviving Mrs. Taylor are her husband, George W. Taylor; a daughter, Mrs. Violet Glenn, of Monroe; a granddaughter, Sandra Gail Glenn; two sisters, Mrs. W. L. Smith of Pleasant Hill and Mrs. Frank M. Cox of Rodessa; three brothers, M. M. Allen, I. L. Allen, and C. W. Allen of Route Two, Winnfield. A daughter, Opaline, preceded her in death a number of years ago. Pallbearers were her nephews, Max Allen, Dewey Allen, C. W. Allen, Armand Taylor, Elverson Coates, and Olan Coates.
