M. At Baptist Church Funeral services for Miss Dorothy Teegarden, age 22 years, 10 months, and 17 days, were held at the Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon, October 29, at 3 o'clock. Miss Teegarden died in the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria Tuesday as a result of typhoid fever. She had been ill approximately two weeks before her death. Rev. H. H. McBride was in charge of the services and Rev. Alwin Stokes read selected scripture. Mrs. Olive Ann Rau sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied at the piano by Miss Nelwyn Dennis. Pallbearers were Iley Brian, Donald Harrison, and Thomas Harrison, Montgomery; Ike LaCroix, Pineville; Frank Shaw and Clifford Long, Winnfield. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Carter, Charlie Walsworth, John W. Teddlie, Joe Gassiott, Clayton Taylor, H. N. Creed, Mr. Applewhite, W. T. Norman, Dr. J. T. Mosley, T. O. Semple, all of Winnfield, and Bill McCain and Frances McCain, Baton Rouge, La. Miss Teegarden was born and reared in Winnfield. She graduated from the Winnfield High School in 1935 and enrolled at the Louisiana State Normal College, Natchitoches, where she attended school for several terms. In 1938 she completed a business course at the Meadows Draughn Business College, Shreveport, and in the latter part of the year of 1938 she began work with the Winn Parish department of public welfare and was still an employee of this department at the time of her death. Miss Teegarden is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ora Teegarden, two sisters, Mrs. T. E. Morrisette, of Alexandria, and Miss Valeria Teegarden, Winnfield; and five brothers, Kenneth Teegarden, China, Harley Teegarden, New Orleans, La., Charlton, Bill, and Harold Teegarden, Winnfield. Out of town attendants at the funeral of Miss Teegarden were: Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cloud, Alexandria; Mrs. S. C. peter, Alexandria; Miss Jessie LeBlanc, Lake Charles; Bill McCain, Fay Wardlow, and Frances Brian, all of Baton Rouge; Mr. and Mrs. Odus Wardlow, Kent, and Harrison Wardlow, Mrs. Dow Wardlow, and Mrs. Pollard Harrison, Montgomery; Mr. and Mrs. T. J. McClain, Clarence; Mrs. Dorothy Stovall of Natchitoches; Miss Reba Waller, Miss Marie Waller, Mrs. Laverne Turner, and Mrs. Edna Terrell of Dodson; Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Walker, Miss Vivian Walters, Miss Ruby Dickson, Mrs. Jewel Canerday, Douglas Bryan, Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Simmons, Miss Olline Crain, Mrs. Kelly, and Miss Vera Smith, of Calvin.
