All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 7, 1938 Winn Parish Enterprise "Aunt Wren" Temple Succumbs At Jonesboro Funeral is Held Thursday Afternoon At Dodson Mrs. Maranda "Aunt Wren" Temple, who would have been 86 years old in September, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. T. Walsworth, in Jonesboro, Wednesday night at 10 o'clock. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Dodson Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Rogers, in charge. Interment was in the Old Transport Cemetery, Jackson Parish. Acting as pallbearers were the six of the deceased's grandsons. "Aunt Wren" Temple was the last of her immediate family to succumb. A member of a prominent Winn and Jackson Parish family, she was widely known for her cleverness and vivacity. She was born in Mid County, Miss., and lived the greater part of her life in Dodson. She was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Jackson Parish and the Dodson Chapter Eastern Star. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, Mrs. E. J. Hogan of Dodson, with whom she made her home; Mrs. J. T. Walsworth of Jonesboro and Mrs. E. H. Gentry of Wyatt; B. F. Temple and W. D. Temple of Dodson and George Temple of Monroe; and one stepson, A. H. Temple of Long Beach, Calif. She is also survived by a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
