Mother of Virgil Tharpe Succumbs; Buried In Kentucky

Mrs. Sally M. Tharpe, 66, died in a Pineville hospital January 5, following a
long illness.  The remains were brought to Southern Funeral Home and then
transferred to Louisville, Kentucky where last rites were held January 8,
at 2 p.m., with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Surviving are two sons, Virgil Tharpe of Winnfield and Harry of Lakeworth,
Fla.; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two sistes, one in
Louisville, Ky., and one in Indiana.
