All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 7, 1955 Winn Parish Enterprise Max Thieme, 82, Head of Chevrolet Co., Died July 2 Max Alvin Thieme, 82, first Winnfield automobile dealer and resident since 1967, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night of a heart ailment in a local hospital. He had been ill for some time. A native of Burkstadt, Germany, Mr. Thieme came to the United States in 1881, and after living in Ohio moved to Winnfield in 1907. At that time he was a sheet metal worker. Seven years later he entered the automobile sales business. Since 1927 he has been president of Max Thieme Chevrolet Co., Inc. Active in local civic affairs, Mr. Thieme was a former member of the Winnfield Board of Aldermen and organized the first Winnfield volunteer fire department in 1908. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were managers and employees of the Max Thieme Chevrolet Co., Russell N. Smith, O. T. White, Bennie Roberts, G. C. McCarty, James Vines, and Woodrow Fordham. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nina Bradford Thieme; a stepson, Lt. Col. Henry F. Ledbetter, Barksdale Air Force Base; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Eddie Baden; one sister, Mrs. Ida C. Hofmann, New York City; one niece, Miss Melita Hofmann, New York City; three nephews, D. L. Hofmann, Winnfield, A. E. and V. E. Hofmann, both of Toledo, Ohio.
