Burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic grave rites under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Mr. thigpen died Sunday, April 1, 1979 in Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness. Mr. Thigpen was member of Hebron Baptist Church and Rosemary Lodge No. 278 F. & A. M. He was a retired farmer and a World War I veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Thigpen of Sikes; a son, Bennie Thigpen of West Monroe; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth May of Grayson, Mrs. Earlene May and Mrs. Maxine May, both of West Monroe; 11 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
