She had been an elementary teacher at the Sikes school for the past 24 years. A native of Winnfield, she was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Louisiana Teachers Association. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernie Yocum and Rev. Hollis Miles officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. She is survived by her husband, J. H. Thompson, Sr. of Sikes; a son, J. H. Thompson, Jr., of Sikes; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Tucker of Sikes and Mrs. Harleen Crain of Kileen, Texas; four brothers, Alfred Cockerham and Albert Cockerham, both of Joyce, Benjy Cockerham of Irondale, Ala., and Morgan Cockerham of Melbourne, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. Zona Bartley of Marrero, Miss Ann Cockerham and Mrs. Blondell Busby, both of Sikes, Mrs. Irene Baker of Jacksonville, Tex., and Mrs. Gertrude Lee of San Antonio, Tex.; and three grandchildren.
