J. Thomas Succumbs; Buried Here Sun. Sept. 7 Mrs. L. J. Thomas, 64, died in a Winnfield hospital Saturday, September 6, after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of of Winnfield for the past 45 years, having come here form Birmingham, Ala. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church, with the pastor, the Rev. R. W. Gage, and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Don Turner, Woodard Barr, Clyde Smith, Jr., Estes Bozeman, J. F. Lovell, Jr., and R. W. Roberts. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, L. J. Thomas, one son, James Thomas of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Barr of Hico, Mrs. Lois Pollan of Tyler, Texas, and Mrs. Flois Perkins of Alaska; one brother, Marvin Holmes of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Finney and Mrs. A. L. Entrekin, both of Birmingham, Ala.; and 11 grandchildren.
