According to reports, the youth with several other boys, was putting fluid in a lighter when some of the liquid spilled on his clothing. His pants were ignited and he was burned from the waist down. He was rushed to a Winnfield clinic where it was found he had suffered second and third degree burns. Funeral services were held at the Sikes Baptist Church Sunday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Homer Coleman and W. S. Emmons in charge. Interment was in the Sikes Cemetery. Besides his parents, Glenroy is survived by three brothers, Jimmy, David, and Tommy Ray, and one sister, Gloria Fay. (Briley's Cemetery Directory lists a Glen Troy Thompson, so I don't know if the paper is in error or if Mr. Briley is in error)
