Thompson Buried At Sikes Aug. 18 Succumbs While Loading Piling on Railroad Tracks Funeral services for Jesse F. Thompson, 62, who died suddenly Wednesday, August 15, 1945, while helping load piling on the T. & G. raiway, were held Saturday at the Sikes church at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Adams of Crowville in charge of the services. Burial was in the Sikes Cemetery. Mr. Thompson was born and reared in the Sikes community and spent his entire life there, being one of the progressive farmers of the parish. He was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife; four sons, H. C. Thompson, C. E. Thompson and J. H. Thompson of Sikes; and CGM N. J. Thompson, U. S. Navy, serving in the Pacific; four daughters, Mrs. A. G. McCarty, Winnfield, Mrs. Archie Crowley, Monroe, Mrs. Robert Mathews, Hodge, and Mrs. Harmie Forrest, Sikes; one brother, Charlie Thompson, Sikes; three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Shell, Sikes; Mrs. Stanley Kennedy, Breckenridge, Texas; Mrs. Julius Smith, Sikes. He also leaves 15 grandchildren.
