B. Thompson At Crossroads Oscar Bowen Thompson, 83, died at 9 p.m. January 31, 1963, in a Winnfield hospital after a long illness. He was a former member for 30 years of the Louisiana State Parole Board, and was associated in the oil business withe late Governor O. K. Allen for many years. He was the first promoter of the Tullos oil field. During the administrations of the late Governors Huey P. Long and O. K. Allen, he was politically prominent. At the time of his death, he was a resident of the Old Thompson homeplace near Castor Creek, Route One, Tullos. Last rites were conducted Saturday, February 2, at the Crossroads Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. W. W. Broadway officiating, assisted by a Jena minister. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorena Wood Thompson; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Addie) Thornton of Tullos; one son, M. J. Thompson of Angleton, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Harry Coffer, of Jena; two brothers, Barlowe Thompson of Jena, and Atman Thompson of Shreveport; one grandson, Jeff Thompson, Angleton, Texas; one granddaughter, Marjorie Thompson, student at Monroe.
