Local arrangements were made by Ellis Funeral home of Midland, Tx. Reverend Jack Head officiated. Mrs. Thompson died Sunday, November 25th, at her Midland home after a lengthy illness. She was born September 30, 1918, in Franklin Parish, La., and grew up in Sikes. She moved to Midland in 1983 from Minden, La. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Sikes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Carl Thompson, and her parents, John Mathew and Mamie Sullivan. Survivors include: one son, Lamar Thompson of Beaumont; one daughter, LaJune Jones of Midland; two brothers, Huey James Sullivan of Minden and John Winfred Sullivan of Sikes; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. ===== Submitter: Greggory E. Davies Date: 20 June 2004 Source: Winnfield News-American February 21, 1936 Negro Woman Kills Man Who Attempts To Enter Her House Pearl Johnson Ordered Released Following Coroner's Inquest Justifiable homicide was the verdict of the coroner's jury that investigated the shooting and killing of J. B. Thompson, negro, by Pearl Johnson, negro woman, last Saturday afternoon about six thirty o'clock in the T. & G. quarters. According to the testimony given at the coroner's inquest held Sunday, the negro woman was in her house and Thompson attempted to force his way into the house. Failing in this he threw bricks and other missles into the house through the windows, and perhaps again tried to get in, when the woman shot and killed him instantly. The Johnson woman gave herself up to the authorities and was placed in jail where she remained until she was ordered released following the coroner's inquest. =========== Submitter: Greggory E. Thompson, 67, died at her home in Montgomery Saturday after an illness of 10 weeks. Interment was made in the old Zion Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Thompson is survived by the widower, two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Barrong, of Montgomery, and Mrs. J. O. Wardlow of Mansfield; and one son, Ardis Thompson; three grandchildren, LaVelle Cockfield, Elizabeth Wardlow, and Maxine Cockfield, and one sister, Mrs. A. C. Davies Date: 20 June 2004 Source: Winnfield News-American April 20, 1934 Dies At Her Home At Sikes Tuesday Mrs. Onie Thompson, age 42, died at her home at Sikes Tuesday night following a lingering illness of more than a year. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at five o'clock at Hurricane Grove Church conducted by Rev. Joe Adams and interment was made in the church cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Chester Thompson of Sikes, and is survived by eight children, Mrs. Arnold Walker, Hester, Ray, Charles, Herman, Arnold, Georgia May, all of Sikes, and Ira Abrams, Shreveport, one sister. Mrs. W. J. Walker and Mrs. J. C. Thompson, relatives of the deceased, attended the funeral Wednesday afternoon. ========
