Mrs. I. Thornton Dies; Services Held At Sharon

Irene Johnston Thornton, 64, of Sikes, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, September
3, 1966 in a Monroe hospital after a long illness.  She was the wife of W. D.
Thornton.

Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Sharon Baptist Church near
Sikes with Rev. Phil Curry officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery
under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mrs. Thornton is survived by her husband; three brothers, Henry Johnston and
Bud Johnston, both of Columbia; and Hardy Johnston of Montgomery; and a
sister, Anna Mae Thibadore of New Orleans.
