H. Thorla Last rites were held Monday, March 8, for Amos H. Thorla, 95, a pioneer Winn Parish resident. He died Friday at the home of a daughter in Odessa, Texas. Mr. Thorla was a native of Bedford County, Iowa, and came to Louisiana in 1893, and had resided in this area for the past 50 years. He was a retired millwright. Services were in the Winnfield Presbyterian Church under the direction of Rev. Alwin Stokes, the pastor. Survivors are two sons, L. F. Thorla of Bossier City, Ira Thorla of Jena; five daughters, Mrs. S. E. Ray of Montgomery, Mrs. Wilda Doss of Florien, Mrs. Bessie Haynie of Odessa, Texas, Mrs. Claude Wallace of Odessa, Texas, and Mrs. Liza Pollock of Beford, Iowa; and one brother, Charlie Thorla of Kansas City.
