Thornton, 91, Dies In Winnfield Saturday, Dec. 31 J. D. Thornton, 91, died December 31 in a local hospital. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. George Womack of Monroe, pastor of the Hebron Church, of which the deceased has been a member of since his youth. Mr. Thornton, who would have been 92 in February, had been bedridden for five years. he had been making his home with his son, H. J. Thornton, of Tannehill, for years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fleet Herring of Sikes and Mrs. Elba Thornton of Tannehill; two sons, H. L. Thornton of Mansfield and H. J. Thornton of Tannehill, and 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clyde Herring, Jesse Thornton, Jack Thornton, Pete Perdue, Earl Thornton, and Douglas Bryant.
