H. M. Thornton, Brother of Winn Residents, Dies

Herschel M. Thornton, 56, died Wednesday morning in a Monroe hospital
following a brief illness.

Thornton, a Carpenter, resided on Route Two, West Monroe.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 25 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers
Funeral Home with the Rev. D. O. Foster officiating.  Burial was in Hasley
Cemetery, West Monroe.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lenora Thornton; five sons, Clell, J. R., H.
E., Gerald W., and Danny G. Thornton, all of West Monroe; two daughters, Mrs.
E. H. Emory and Mrs. Jerry Headricks, both of West Monroe; one brother, Ray
Thornton, Eros; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Cole, Winnfield, and Mrs. Stanley
Branch, Sikes, and several grandchildren.
